CH Gold/Yellow Lantana forms a low, spreading mound covered with sunny golden-yellow flower clusters from summer into fall. This heat-loving selection is especially useful in South Carolina beds where long bloom, strong color and pollinator activity are priorities.

Botanical name: Lantana hybrid, Chapel Hill Gold/Yellow selection

  • Light: Full sun for the best flowering
  • USDA zones: 7b to 11
  • Mature size: About 18 to 24 inches tall and 30 to 48 inches wide
  • Foliage: Green, aromatic, textured leaves
  • Flowers: Golden yellow to pale yellow
  • Bloom season: Summer through frost
  • Water: Water regularly while establishing. Once established, lantana tolerates dry periods but flowers best with occasional deep watering.
  • Growth habit: Low, spreading and mounding
  • Landscape uses: Sunny borders, slopes, pollinator gardens, cottage gardens, containers and mass plantings
  • Deer tolerance: Commonly considered deer resistant, though browsing can vary
  • Zone 8b note: One of the better choices for returning in Zone 8b. It normally dies back after frost and benefits from winter mulch.

Caution: Lantana is toxic if eaten and may irritate sensitive skin. Keep it away from children and pets that may chew plants.
